Ball Control with Back Row Attacks

Description
This drill is to practice back row attacks to desired locations as well as increase communication skills.

Setup
1.  A player in the setter position on each side of the net
2.  A player in the middle back position on each side of the net
3.  Lines behind the middle back position outside of the court


Instructions
1.  Coach initiates drill with a free ball or down ball
2.  Middle back passes to player in setter position
3.  Setter sets to the middle back position
4.  Middle back approaches and hits a controlled back row attack to middle back player on opposite side of the net
5.  Continue this for a set number of contacts
6.  Players rotate by following their ball, but staying on their own side of the net
7.  Rotation should be: Middle back, to setter, to end of the line, to middle back

Variations
1.  Use a permanent setter on both sides instead of rotating setters
Coaching Points
1.  Make sure players are purposely back row attacking to a specific position
